The Story

Skate City opened in 1978 and has always operated as a roller skating rink. Over the years different fun opportunities were added such as turtles with a slide, goofy golf, volleyball, a ball pit, lock-ins, and the famous Mr. DJ’s Dance Party. Today, we like to focus on roller skating with your friends and family. The skating floor was just resurfaced in August of 2017 and is super shiny and smooth to roll on. Although the turtles, golf, ball pit, and dancing are no longer available, a super-fun, large and colorful indoor playland was added several years ago. The Uptown Playland offers fun for ages 12 and under and is great for those who may not wish to skate the full time. A redemption arcade was also added a couple of years ago, which offers playing fun games for tickets to redeem in the Stuff Shop. Kids love having tickets spit out of the machines after hitting the “jackpot!”

Several owners/operators have enjoyed providing fun over the years at Skate City. Today, Steve and Sarah Miller are the ones you will meet when you come through the doors. We moved here in 2009, with our daughter Meredith, after losing our skating rink (the Black Hawk Rollerdrome, Cedar Falls) in the record Iowa floods of 2008. Although we miss our nostalgic wood floor and our many customers who no longer have a local rink in the Cedar Valley, we are so glad God brought us here to continue in the skating business by serving the families in Northwest Wisconsin. We have been in the business for over 25 years and take pride in providing skating fun for kids of all ages. Skating is a passion – we hope you see and feel that as you spend time at Skate City!

Whether you have never been here, haven’t been here in 20 years, or if you were just here last week . . . come enjoy some fun at Skate City soon!
